Seegrid AMRs Recognized by Modern Materials Handling for Transforming Manufacturing Operations at Guardian Industries

Guardian Replacing Traditional Manually-Driven Industrial Vehicles With Seegrid Driverless Autonomous Mobile Robots

Seegrid Corporation, a leader in autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) for material handling, today announced that Guardian Industries, a subsidiary of Koch Industries, is scaling its usage of Seegrid Palion™ AMRs and Fleet Central™ enterprise software across numerous manufacturing facilities. The global automotive components supplier was recently featured as the cover story in Modern Materials Handling for its ability to leverage automation to obtain the highest levels of excellence within its operations. Guardian Industries accelerates operational improvements and corporate initiatives with Seegrid Palion Tow Tractor AMRs, safely and autonomously delivering parts to production cells 24 hours a day, five days a week in fast-paced, dynamic environments.

Guardian Industries selected Seegrid’s mobile automation and software solutions to streamline processes, improve safety, and lower costs. By replacing manually-driven powered industrial vehicles with Palion AMRs that deliver reliable, consistent material flow, the global automotive OEM supplier improved facility productivity, accelerated 5S initiatives, upskilled employees to safer, more value-added roles, and demonstrated rapid return on investment.

“Seegrid AMRs are highly compatible with our culture of continuous improvement,” said Peter Westrick, Engineering Manager at Guardian Industries. “Seegrid’s technology is extremely reliable, easy for our operators to use, and ultimately enables us to reduce costly variability in our operations.”

“We’re incredibly proud to be a part of Guardian Industries’ culture of transformation,” said Jim Rock, Chief Executive Officer at Seegrid. “Our proven technology and service-oriented approach provides manufacturing, logistics, and e-commerce companies across the supply chain network with reliable and low-risk material handling solutions that ensure adoption and ongoing optimization.”

Named a leading U.S. mobile robot provider and ranked #1 in worldwide market share for automated tow tractors, Seegrid has been experiencing strong growth and demand—some of the biggest brands in the world leverage Seegrid’s mobile robots and enterprise software to fill labor shortages, increase throughput, and help improve overall material flow. Seegrid will showcase its Palion AMR fleet at MODEX, the world’s largest manufacturing and supply chain trade event, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, in March. Attendees will be able to observe autonomous demonstrations of Seegrid Palion Tow Tractor working in tandem with Seegrid’s newest robot model, Seegrid Palion Lift.

Seegrid’s unique autonomy technology, Seegrid IQ, fuses data from cameras, LiDAR, and machine learning models with the company’s proprietary 3D computer vision system to provide safe and reliable material handling. Seegrid IQ gives Palion AMRs the intelligence to perceive, plan, and control their movement: the collective fleet has driven more than 6 million miles at customer sites without a single personnel safety incident.
