ORBIS RECEIVES 2021 GREEN SUPPLY CHAIN AWARD FROM SUPPLY & DEMAND CHAIN EXECUTIVE

Award recognizes companies that prioritize supply chain sustainability

OCONOMOWOC, Wis. — Dec. 17, 2021 — ORBIS® Corporation, an international leader in reusable packaging, was named a Supply & Demand Chain Executive’s 2021 Green Supply Chain award recipient. This award recognizes companies that prioritize sustainability as a core part of their supply chain strategy.

ORBIS received this distinction for its wide range of reusable packaging for use along the supply chain — such as pallets, totes, racks, containers, dunnage and bulk systems — and multiple service offerings that help customers measure and reduce their overall environmental impact while supporting the circular economy.

“We thank Supply & Demand Chain Executive for recognizing the sustainable and environmental impact our products, services and materials have on the supply chain,” said Breanna Herbert, product manager and sustainability lead at ORBIS Corporation. “Despite the major supply chain disruptions of the past year, sustainability has been, and will continue to be, a top priority for our company as we continue helping our customers find environmental savings.”

This award builds on ORBIS’ commitment to supply chain sustainability and green logistics initiatives. Earlier this year, ORBIS was recognized with a Supply & Demand Chain Executive Top Supply Chain project award and named an Inbound Logistics 2021 G75 Green Supply Chain Partner and a Food Logistics 2021 Top Green Provider.

While reusable plastic packaging is inherently sustainable, ORBIS’ Ocean in Mind program also recovers, recycles and reprocesses single-use plastic waste found near coastlines into reusable plastic packaging solutions for the supply chain. ORBIS is diverting roughly 1 million pounds of single-use plastic waste from the world’s oceans and preventing an additional 1 million pounds of single-use plastic from becoming environmental waste. Combined, this is the equivalent to keeping 50 million shampoo bottles out of our oceans annually. Additionally, ORBIS’ traditional comprehensive recycling program recovers and reprocesses customers’ obsolete and surplus plastic packaging into new products, further reducing waste and greenhouse gas emissions.

Beyond the continued development and use of sustainable and recycled materials, another key differentiator is ORBIS’ Environmental Audit service to help leading companies analyze their supply chain, and measure and compare the environmental impact of their packaging in the areas of energy usage, greenhouse gas emissions and solid waste. This capability compares reusable packaging with single-use or expendable packaging to drive supply chain sustainability, operational efficiency and cost savings.
