Configura and Talos Launch Ichor3D, a New CET Extension

The intelligent space-planning software will simplify specification of Talos’s material handling equipment

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH., USA—Dec. 16, 2021—Configura, the global maker of CET space-planning and specification software, and Talos, an international supplier of material handling equipment, announced today they’ve launched a new CET Extension for specifying Talos’s products.

Built on technology developed by Configura, Talos’s CET Extension – dubbed Ichor3D – is software for designing, building, implementing and sustaining Talos’s material handling solutions. Manufacturers like Talos add their products to CET by creating an Extension, which is an addition to the software that incorporates the rules, parts and pricing of products. CET and Extensions provide an intelligent, single software solution for designing spaces and specifying configurable products within a given space. The software is a powerful configuration tool that streamlines the entire sales and order process.

Tennessee-based Talos makes baggage- and parcel-handling systems used in such facilities as airports, mail-processing facilities, warehouses and distribution centers.

“Engineering material handling systems is a highly complex task; Ichor3D handles the complexity of space planning and product ordering. It makes the process faster, more accurate and highly visual,” said Matt Harvey, Talos Executive Vice President of Products and Services. “We are truly excited about the launch of Ichor3D, and for our partners and customers to start reaping its many benefits.”

The software enables importing of building plans; creates 2D and 3D drawings (layouts and elevations); and generates photorealistic renderings, fly-thru videos, virtual and augmented reality experiences, instant pricing and bills of materials, parts lists, spare part reports and installation documents. The software offers the ability to quickly review and solve engineering obstacles in the design process – preventing costly errors. It automates common tasks, enhances collaboration across departments and reduces drawing time from months to days, and in some cases, hours.

The equipment lines that Ichor3D supports include Talos’s bolted conveyor equipment that is approved for Amazon and FedEx Ground parcel, with more products to be added to the software – including Talos’s bolted baggage conveyors. The software can integrate with additional Talos equipment such as curves, chutes, racks and platforms, and can handle custom specifications.

“We’re pleased to welcome Talos to our growing community of material handling manufacturers that use CET,” Brain Hill, Configura Senior Account Manager. “CET and Extensions solve the problem of selling complex products through streamlining and increased efficiency, giving manufacturers and their partners a competitive edge and enhancing the customer experience.”

Talos learned of Configura through some of its partners when it began exploring 3D design software options several years ago.

“Configura fit what we were looking for in a partner to create our configuration tool, and CET offers the design advantages that we’ve been seeking,” Talos Project Manager Andrew Mendoza said. “Also, I appreciated Configura’s customer service. Since the beginning of development, the developers, project manager and account managers have gone above and beyond on a number of occasions to assist with anything that has come up during our time working together. Because of this, the overall experience has been exceptionally pleasant.”

Configura’s software products, including CET, are used by thousands of people globally, including designers, engineers, project managers, salespeople, dealerships and manufacturers in the material handling, commercial interiors and kitchen and bath industries.

More than 100 manufacturers around the world – including Dematic, NEDCON, Linde, DeLaval, Nederman and EAB – have invested in CET Extensions to sell their products.

CET and Ichor3D are available via Configura’s Marketplace.
