The Production Control Technician coordinates the efficient flow of materials and finished goods into and out of the production process. The position works in close coordination with each production department to carry out tasks to ensure efficient use of materials and movement of goods. Works closely with the all positions involved in implementing the RCI program.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Percent of Time Spent:

Material Flow and Expediting – Communicates with production planners, Purchasing, managers and department supervisors and operators to learn production schedules and facilitates the flow of materials between production areas and preparing finished goods for storage or distribution. Using a forklift and other equipment, the PCT will move materials and deliver them as needed to there next respective work center. If materials are damaged or run low, the PCT must also coordinate with the planner/purchasing manager to expedite inventory replenishment.

Maintenance Program – Support Production supervisors and facilities maintenance in Overseeing and performs the maintenance and cleaning of production equipment. The PCT routinely checks equipment and reports any issues that need to be addressed. The PCT creates and manages a routine for cleaning and maintenance of production machines and shop areas to avoid unnecessary delays in starting production runs. Maintains on-hand spare parts inventory for common failures. Reports on equipment utilization to reach goal of 98% uptime.

Special Projects – Will assist on any manufacturing related tasks to help in reaching our sales goals and improve manufacturing capability. Follow and monitor the build of R&D projects, first time builds, through manufacturing. Relaying detail information back to engineering with progress and or creaturized changes. Involve Engineering when applicable to interpret discrepancies.

CapEx – Provides feedback on capital equipment purchases and attends maintenance training classes provided by vendors. Works directly with vendors to establish a service relationship. Work with vendors to setup necessary training related to new equipment purchases.

Quality Program – Assist the ME department and the production floor in the Inspection of parts. Work with operators to do the same inspection you would perform while their machine tools are running the next parts. Develop SOP’s, Creates lists, and descriptions of unacceptable product defects. Inspect all Final equipment in accordance with the customer order. Defines and fills out QC documentation and electronically file. Work with Engineering and test to Perform inspections on final builds to insure equipment is meeting specification,

Occasional Responsibilities:

RCI: Identify efficiency related improvements in processes and equipment.

Provide new equipment, fixture and/or tooling recommendations to the ME’s

Promotes safety and performs START audits

Qualifications
Requirements:

Associates degree in a technical field, or equivalent, or 5 years in a manufacturing environment

Knowledge and Skills:

Professional and positive attitude

Excellent communication and written skills.

Dependable, punctual and organized

Knowledge of MRP/ERP is a plus

Experience:

5+ years of manufacturing experience.
