Director, Warehouse Optimization

The Director, Facilities Optimization provides support for and participates in the planning, documentation, and design processes for distribution center optimization projects for clients. Their projects will be focused on new designs and improving current facilities by increasing throughput to meet demand or improve storage capacity to satisfy inventory needs. They will be responsible for leading and/or participating in the development strategic designs for projects of varying scope; reviews current operation for opportunities to change processes, layout, and current system functionality to improve throughput and reduce labor requirements.

 Key Responsibilities:

Manage consulting resources to deliver high quality deliverables and maintain project and consulting budgets
Lead consultants through data analysis and development of design criteria that will serve as the basis for any updated design
Optimize operations based on best practices and client’s order profile/volumes (automation, systems, process, people, etc.)
Responsible for cultivating relationships with varying level of a client’s team (i.e. engineering, operations, executive level, IT, etc.)
Responsible to present and discuss strategies and technical information in a manner that establishes rapport, persuades others, and establishes understanding for technical and non-technical audiences
Recommend solutions including financial analysis (ROI, IRR, etc.)
Analyze and to turn mass data into project insights using the following tools: Expert-level skill in Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, Power Point, Visio, and AutoCAD; using relational databases, such as MS Access or SQL
System and Data Analysis experience
Experience design Best of Breed WMS/WES to increase efficiency of operations
Optimization of existing automation within the warehouse
Slotting best practices
Time Study Analysis or Value-Add vs Non-Value-Add analysis
LEAN Six Sigma
Ability to execute and guide consultants through data cleansing and data analysis on large datasets.
Required to communicate with clients, associates, management, and general stakeholders clearly and concisely on all projects

Skills and Experience Needed:

Bachelor’s Degree Industrial Engineering or similar discipline
10-12 years of experience and knowledge of distribution operations across different distribution channels and industries (i.e. e-commerce, wholesale, retail, drop-ship)
Minimum 7-10 years of proven experience managing multiple complex DC optimization projects
Proven experience optimizing operations based on best practices and client’s order profile/volumes (automation, systems, process, people, etc.)
Outstanding ability to cultivate relationships with varying level of a client’s team (i.e. engineering, operations, executive level, IT, etc.)
Proven experience in presenting strategies and technical information in a manner that establishes rapport, persuades others, and establishes understanding for technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to exercise independent judgment and creative problem-solving techniques in a highly complex environment using leading-edge technology
Strong analytic abilities required to turn mass data into project insights, with the ability to justify recommended solutions including financial analysis (ROI, IRR, etc.)
Expert-level skills required with Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, Power Point and AutoCAD; Must have working knowledge of relational database, such as MS Access or SQL
Strong written and verbal communication
This position is remote and can be performed from anywhere within the United States
